Wesleys six month update

Wesley is now six months old and man is his life flying. It still seems like yesterday that we brought him home from the hospital, and even though he cried a lot in those first few months it really has gone by quickly. He was definitely a colic baby from the start and for awhile the only thing that calmed him was feeding him. After a couple months it was easier to calm him just by holding him and boy has that been hard to break! Wesley also has eczema and dry skin pretty bad but it has mostly cleared up now that the colder weather has passed. For a while though we had to cover his hands with socks otherwise he would scratch. He still scratches whatever he can reach when he is frustrated, kind of just his own learned mechanism in our opinion. Most of the time he scratches skin that is not dry or irritated, so that is how Bekah figured out that he is just frustrated. Whether it be that he is hungry, tired, gassy, or feeling lonely, he scratches. That is why in many of his pictures you see him with scabs(our poor baby)! We clip his nails constantly but he still finds a way to dig in if he is mad about something. It works for him though because we end up holding him and he stops(haha!).
All that being said Wesley is starting to play on his own better. He loves to watch his older brothers, "bubbies" play while playing in his baby gym. He also enjoys looking out the window or being outside. If he does have a fussy moment we take him outside if possible and it calms him down. He looks forward to his evening walks with Bekah and also loves to watch her cook in his bumbo seat.
Wesley is also a fantastic eater! He started eating solids right at 5 months when his first two bottom teeth appeared, and cant get enough! He is already up to three meals a day and one snack. He has had avocado, peas, bananas, applesauce, oatmeal, and cereal snacks. He has not turned down anything we have fed him when he is hungry. He is also a pretty good sleeper. He does not usually nap more than four hours a day unless in a growth spurt, but he usually sleeps ten to eleven hours at night. He finally started settling into more of a routine around five months which makes life a little less crazy.
Wesley is rolling from his tummy to his back and sitting up with a little propping. He does not have much interest in crawling yet but we are in no hurry. He does like to stand, so maybe he will skip the crawling altogether! Our Wesley Boy(his nickname given by Quintin and Zachary) is growing so fast. At 17.5 pounds and almost 29 inches long we cant believe he is already six months old!!

Quintins Kindergarten Graduation

Well, He did it!! Quintin graduated from Kindergarten..Yay! We are so proud of all he has accomplished and learned at Hampton Christian the past two years. He is very smart and catches on to new concepts well.
The graduation was so cute. Before the kids entered they played a slide show of pictures with the kids favorite things and you will have to pay attention to what Quintin's answers were...he is so funny!
The first part of the presentation the kids were on an island adventure. They were looking for their treasure...the answer was Jesus of course! We were all very shocked that Quintin actually got on a microphone in front of everyone and he did a great job. We were some proud parents!!

Back to school night!

After their presentation the kids put on their caps and gowns for the actual graduation. They moved their tassels and everything...it was so cute!

Quintin has really grown and matured over the past two years. He has really progressed well and we thank his teacher and HCE staff for that. Bekah has made the decision to home school Quintin and Zachary next year. At this point we do not know if we will do this yearly. We have decided to make our school decisions yearly and do what is best for our family. Bekah is very excited about starting schooling at home with the kids and has already ordered her curriculum for this coming year. We know there will be challenges along the way, but we believe this is the best decision for our family right now.

The Big Rubber Duck

We are sure everyone has heard of the "Big Rubber Duck" that is traveling the world as an art display? Well it came to Norfolk, Virginia and we all made our way across the water to see what it was all about. We went early to beat the crowds and the boys loved it. Wesley was with us and we forgot to include him in the photos because he was sleeping the whole time! If you were to ask us how was it, well our response would be "Its a big yellow rubber duck!" Haha....here are the photos!

Zachary's 4th Birthday

Wow you guys we are super behind so here is to catching up a little this weekend! Back in April Zach turned four years old. We are still in denial that our little Zachy is four. Even when Bekah created the Birthday folder on the computer she typed third Birthday. Life really is moving so fast and we need for it to slow down just a bit.
Zach chose the Avengers theme for his birthday. We kept it simple and had it at the park with a few family members and friends. Jeffs cousin makes all our cakes now and she did an amazing job with it. Zach had a great time playing with all his friends, opening gifts, and eating cake!
